Description	Develops and implements strategies to reduce homelessness in York Region * programs and services for people who are homeless and for those at risk of becoming homeless * Domiciliary Hostels and Lodging Houses for people who need supervision of their activities (for a complete listing, visit www.york.ca - Departments - Community Services and Housing - Housing Services - Domiciliary Hostels) * emergency shelters for individuals who are homeless or fleeing dangerous situations * financial support for board and lodging * Transition Homes provide temporary shelter for women who are victims of abuse (with or without children); monthly allowance given (for a complete listing of Emergency Shelters and Transition Homes, visit www.york.ca - Departments - Community Services and Housing - Social Assistance/Ontario Works) * funding of homelessness prevention projects through the Community Development Investment Fund
