| Description | Serves individuals and families in York Region within the values and traditions of the Catholic Church * counselling services are geared toward helping people with personal, marital and family problems * the Agency's community programmes and immigrant services are designed to help immigrants and refugees to become established and contributing members of the community Blended Families program: a free, five-session workshop series for parents living in blended or step-families * offers a variety of different strategies and methods to tackle issues such as: myths and expectations in blended families; guilt, resentment, and jealousy; helping children adjust; roles and responsibilities; discipline, visitation and holidays; and ex-partners and the extended family * call for more information and to register (ext 237) Community Connections Mentorship Program (formerly HOST Program) -- group activities for newly arrived immigrants and refugees of all ages to help orient them to their new community and establish social and professional networks * trained and experienced volunteer mentors assist, with focus on citizenship and civic engagement or skills and career development IN Program - Integration Network: helps newcomers adjust, adapt, and integrate into Canadian society through social connections and shared activities * Canadian volunteers provide newcomers with the opportunity to practice English and French, discover the Canadian culture, receive information on education and employment issues, and learn about community services * newcomers who are Permanent Residents, living in Canada for less than 3 years or Convention refugees are eligible for this program | |||
