ApplicationForms and instructions are available at any Canada Post outlet or on-line at www.passportcanada.gc.ca * these offices can now process in-person applications within the service standard of 10 days plus delivery delay, however, applicants should be aware that they may face long line-ups before they meet with a passport officer * it may take up to 23 working days to process applications sent by mail within Canada or submitted through a receiving agent (Canada Post or Service Canada * it may take up to 20 working days to process applications received by mail from the United States * to avoid further delays in getting your passport, make sure your application is complete by using the checklist detailing the most common errors * please note that delays may change based on the volume of applications being received * Passport Canada continues to seek ways to reduce service delays 
 
Many Service Canada Centres and Canada Post are passport receiving agents, giving Canadians broader access to passport services across the country * Receiving Agents can accept standard passport applications presented in person, review your application to make sure it is complete, collect your fee payment and supporting documents (proof of citizenship, identity document and photos), and send your application to Passport Canada for processing * once Passport Canada has approved and issued your passport, it will be delivered to the mailing address specified in your application

Land and water travel to the United States: Starting June 1, 2009, Canadian citizens will be required to present a valid passport, a NEXUS card, or other acceptable document when seeking to enter the United States * Canadian citizens 15 years of age and under will only require proof of citizenship * Canadian citizens 18 years of age and under who are travelling with a school or other organized group, under adult supervision with parental/guardian consent, may also present proof of citizenship alone * for more information, visit the Canada Border Services Agency's website
