| Application | HOUSING HELP CENTRE: Telephone, come into the centre and speak with a staff member, check our bulletin board of rental listings, use our computer to check listings online; IDENTIFICATION CLINIC: Call the office to book an appointment to attend an ID Clinic in your area; COMMUNITY SUPPORT PROGRAM: Call the office and speak with the Community Support Worker; ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: clients must be a customer of Powerstream and/or Enbridge, billing must be in the applicant's name, must reside at the address for which there are arrears, have a pre-tax income at or below Statistics Canada low-Income Cutoff (LICO) plus 15%, and have the ability to sustain the electricity and gas costs after assistance is granted. Applicants must call in to the office for pre-screening and if eligible an appointment will be made; TALK2ONE: registration for this service only takes place at a participating social service agency * for more information or to access this service, contact the office. INCOME TAX CLINICS: call and book an appointment during the month of March only. | |||

| Description | HOUSING HELP CENTRE: Residents of York Region needing housing or wanting to move to York Region * maintains a housing registry to assist individuals in securing affordable accommodation that exists in the private rental market; IDENTIFICATION CLINIC: Individuals/families living in York Region experiencing homelessness, at risk of becoming homeless and low or no income individuals/families who require necessary identification to obtain services * clinics are offered throughout York Region * clients must call and book an appointment * eligible clients can have necessary identification replaced at no cost to them; COMMUNITY SUPPORT PROGRAM: is a source of integrated information, referral and short term case management that brings low-income individuals/families and services together to meet vital needs * staff will assist clients to help find and access the services and programs best able to meet your needs * staff will assess and develop a plan, provide counselling and crisis intervention, advocate on behalf of the client, complete applications, assist with landlord mediation and develop strategies to maintain or find new housing ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: provides a yearly one-time financial grant to eligible low-income customers who are experiencing difficulty in paying their electricity or natural gas providers; TALK2ONE: provides a permanent voice mailbox that can never be cut off, one hour each month of long distance time to anywhere in North America and access to social-based information on demand and spot announcements such as cold weather; INCOME TAX CLINICS: In partnership with the Chartered Accountants of Ontario, free income tax clinics are offered to low income residents of York Region | |||
