| Eligibility | Services are available to residents of York Region Enhanced Language Training * Trained engineers who are refugee claimants, Convention refugees or permanent residents, and who are eligible to work in Canada LINC * landed immigrants, convention refugees, government-sponsored refugees or others determined eligible for LINC LINC Evening Classes * for landed immigrants, convention refugees or individuals on a Minister's Permit; must be 18 years or older | |||

| Description | English as a second language (ESL) classes * related assessment and counselling * childcare *computer training courses * ESL workplace culture and conversation * Advanced, Basic, Intermediate Levels, and Reading and Writing and ESL Work Search Enhanced Language Training (ELT) for Internationally trained professionals * 18 week sector specific language training * individual counselling and action plan development * 5 week job placement * mentoring * networking * resume and interview preparation LINC * participates in LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada), upon assessment by YMCA of Greater Toronto * child minding available Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada * teaches English communication skills essential to social, economic and cultural integration into Canadian Society * part-time evening classes are available Youth Settlement Services * aimed at immigrant and refugee minority youth who are permanent residents of Canada or those who have been informed of initial approval of immigrant status * program will provide increased accessibility, awareness of and inclusion in existing community services available to minority and newcomer children and youth in the GTA * youth 13-24 * information and referral services * documentation and completion of forms * newcomer settlement services and orientation * employment related services * housing help program * supportive and solution focused counselling * group workshops on topics relevant to newcomer youth Group Workshops on topics relevant to Newcomer Youth | |||
