Description (Service) | York Region Preschool Speech & Language Program - provides help for children from birth to senior kindergarten entry who have difficulty learning to communicate or to interact * the program focuses on the prevention, early identification and treatment of speech and language problems Tri-Regional Infant Hearing Program - this program identifies children with permanent hearing loss and provides the follow-up services/supports to facilitate language and literacy development as needed until school entry Tri-Regional Blind-Low Vision Program - this program partners with existing resources such as CNIB to provide counselling, coaching, suggestions to help your child use their vision and/or other senses to their full potential |

Eligibility | Preschool Speech - Children from birth until senior kindergarten entry who have trouble talking or understanding language, parents/guardians, child care staff * must be residents of York Region Infant Hearing Program - babies who have missed their newborn screening or have a risk factor for permanent childhood hearing impairment should be referred Blind-Low Vision Program - anyone who has concerns about their child's vision should contact us * an opthamologist's referral is needed, however, we can assist with this referral and provide supports in the meantime |
Application | Preschool Speech: If you are concerned about your child's speech and language development, please make the referral as soon as possible as wait times may vary from approximately 6 to 12 months to be seen for an assessment with one of our SLPs; Infant Hearing - there is minimal wait time for this program (2-4 weeks); Blind-Low Vision Program - there is minimal wait time for this program (2-4 weeks) |
