Description (Service) The 240+ Canadian grandmother groups put on concerts, organize card tournaments, sell jewellery and other crafts, and visit countless schools and community organizations; they bake, cook, sew, knit, paint, write, organize cycle tours, walks, and even ride motorcycles, all to raise funds and awareness for grandmothers in sub-Saharan Africa through the Stephen Lewis Foundation 
 
Projects are initiated by the African grandmothers themselves and are vetted by Stephen Lewis Foundation representatives in the 14 African countries currently involved in the Campaign * monies raised go directly to projects such as school uniforms, kitchen garden seeds, bereavement counseling, nutrition education, high school fees, health care, HIV awareness training and grandmother support groups
Hours Meetings held at 12:30 pm the second Mon of each month at Sobey's Aurora
Areas Served Aurora ; Ballantrae ; Newmarket ; Oak Ridges ; and surrounding areas
Eligibility There are no age requirements although most of us are grandmothers and friends of grandmothers
