Description (Service) | Coordinates eight week program offering people of all ages and disabilities a chance to experience skiing * offered with the help of volunteer instructors at Horseshoe Resort, The Heights at Horseshoe and Snow Valley; Learn to Race Learn to Race program, runs out of Craigleith on Sundays in January and February * Candidates must have a physical disability, and ski independently, with a ‘Need for Speed’ * participants expected to work at improving fitness level, and work at learning to negotiate through race gates, must have own equipment * program aims for participants progress to the Provincial Team at end of two seasons; Alpine Ontario Para Race Team (AOPRT) or (OPAST) Educates, promotes, and trains Para Athletes to participate in para alpine racing * members train, compete and promote para alpine racing at all levels * members who have a variety of congenital and acquired physical challenges, racing in stand up, sitting or visually impaired categories |
