Description (Service) | To report injured or orphaned wildlife, wildlife rehabilitation and release contact the OSPCA at 1-888-668-7722; In King wildlife information available at and leave message to report injured, orphaned or sick wildlife to Toronto Wildlife Services Mon-Sun 9 am – 6 pm 416-631-0662, messages will be returned, may take longer during spring and summer, Mon-Sun 6 pm – 9 am contact OSPCA; Aurora MNR office 905-713-7400 Southern Region 1-800-667-1940; Newmarket Coyote Reporting ; Use newmarket.ca/coyotesighting or call 905-895-5193 to report sighting * please provide date, time and location of sighting, number of coyotes spotted, if a pet was involved, coyote behaviour; Reporting Bears MNR Bear Wise reporting April – November, Dec 1 – March 31 1-866-514-2327; Encountering potentially aggressive animals: *Pick up small children and pets; *Never approach or touch a wild animal; *Do not turn your back or run from wild animal; *back away remaining calm; *stand tall, wave your arms and make noise; *carry a flashlight at night; *if wild animal poses immediate threat or danger to public call 911 , Make your property unwelcome: *use flashing lights, motion sensors and noise makers; *put up 2m high fence that extends 20 cm underground; *install roller system on top of fence; *don’t put garbage curbside overnight; *collect ripe fruit and vegetables from gardens promptly Preventing conflicts with coyotes and pets: Keep dogs inside at night and early morning * supervise small pets and walk dogs on leash * clean up after your dog and spay or neuter your dog – coyotes are attracted to dog feces as well as dogs that have not been spayed or neutered; Find Local licensed trapper call 705-254-3338 or email Ontario Fur Managers Federation furman@furmanagers.com; Coyote Watch Canada Tips http://coyotewatchcanada.com/awareness/coexisting-with-coyotes/; MNR coyote information www.ontario.ca/page/preventing-and-managing-conflicts-coyotes-wolves-and-foxes |
