Description (Service) | financial assistance for rent, mortgage payments, utilities, accessibility modifications, critical medical expenses, home safety repairs and other housing costs through three programs: Housing Stability Program for individuals already receiving Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) benefits (see homelessness prevention program for people not receiving these) * behind on rental, mortgage or utility payments can get support from for Preventing a utility cut off, Preventing an eviction due to unpaid rent, Last month’s rent deposit, Moving and storage costs, Utility deposits and reconnection costs, Household items * Follow up support will be provided two weeks, one month, three months and six months after receiving benefits from program ; Homelessness Prevention program people who are not receiving other financial assistance who are behind on rental, mortgage or utility payments * assistance for Preventing a utility cut off , Preventing an eviction due to missed rent or mortgage payments, Moving costs, First and last month’s rent, ID replacement, Urgent medical needs; Home Repair Program grants of up to $7,500 per year, lifetime maximum of $15,000, to low and moderate income homeowners who need modifications to make their homes accessible or critical repairs to improve the safety of their homes * can help with critical repairs or accessibility modifications such as ramp installations, accessibility enhancements such as bathtub conversions to walk-in showers, porch lifts and interior stair lifts, grab bars, raised toilets, lighting improvements and handrail installations for interior and exterior stairs, urgent repairs to roofs, windows or other areas that jeopardize ability to live safely in own home, critical furnace repairs or replacements that jeopardize ability to continue to live safely in own home or help address problems associated with health condition |

Eligibility | Housing Stability Program must Live in York Region, Be homeless or at risk of homelessness, Receive assistance from Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program, Have not received benefits from this program within the last three years * Homelessness Prevention Program must not received program support within the last five years, Live in York Region, Be behind on rent, mortgage or utility payments or be living in a temporary shelter, Not be receiving Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) benefits * Home Repair program must own primary residence in York Region worth no more than the Home Value Eligibility Threshold (see website or phone to ask for location in York Region), with total income less than limit identified on website and home needs modifications to accommodate a household member who has a disability or urgent repair and work required has not been completed * see application guide on website |
