Girl Guides offers the greatest variety of any volunteer experience for women. Volunteer opportunities with Girl Guides of Canada are tailored to fit your schedule, your skills, and your interests. Whether you want to offer an hour or two every few months or make a regular weekly commitment, there are lots of ways to volunteer and help Girl Guides of Canada put girls in the lead. You can volunteer as a Unit Guider, working with girls on a weekly basis. Or, you can take on a role suited to your area of expertise, such as working as a Specialty Adviser in areas like international travel, camping, public relations and program development. No matter how much time you have to give, there’s a place for you in Guiding. We’re always accepting new volunteers and you can join any time throughout the year.

Join LEAF's volunteer team and help our urban forest thrive!  
 
Our volunteers play a critical role in helping us improve the urban forest. There are many different ways that you can get involved depending on your own skills and interests. Opportunities include: 
 
• Community outreach and education: Represent LEAF at community events and talk with people about the Urban Forest and LEAF’s work. Share your knowledge and inspire others to take action.  
• Hands-on planting and stewardship: Get involved in our tree planting/stewardship events. Join our stewardship teams that care for our six Urban Forest Demonstration Gardens. 
• Tours and events: Assist with our tree tours and other engaging educational events. 
• Photography: Help capture our great LEAF moments.

Ontario Clean Air Alliance

The Ontario Clean Air Alliance is a coalition dedicated to moving Ontario toward a 100% renewable energy grid. OCAA invites people to distribute pamphlets door-to-door (in mailboxes) or at special events to educate Ontarians on the true costs of nuclear power vs. green energy alternatives. The pamphlets include an action component. 
 
When registering, please indicate which town you would like to deliver in.

Procyon Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Centre

Prepare food and feed animals, wash dishes and do laundry, clean cages, record health information, answer phones, keep nurseries tidy and clean. 
 
Assisting with the care of orphaned baby animals or the rehabilitation of adult wild animals such as raccoons, squirrels, deer, fox, squirrels, owls, ducks, rabbits, etc. Also maintenance of facility, education of public, fundraising, and grant writing. *Volunteers under the age of 18 cannot have direct contact with the animals according to MNR regulations, but can help with other aspects of the centre.

Community Cleanup the first Saturday of every month within the boundaries of Whitchurch-Stouffville. We provide the garbage bags, gloves and grabbers.

Volunteers will assist in general garden maintenance such as weeding and watering during the growing season. All skills levels are welcome. Volunteers are also encouraged to harvest and take home the food that they grow.
