Program staff in conjunction with volunteer mentors carry out lunch time or after school sessions throughout the school year for students ages 12 - 14 years. Mentoring sessions will be comprised of a variety of activities. Each session includes a healthy snack, structured group activity and informal time where youth and mentors can build their relationships through games, conversation, projects, shared experiences and field trips.

These activities and complementary therapies support our clients well being by providing yoga, meditation, visualization, native healing, Tai Chi, therapeutic touch, massage therapy and more. Volunteer Tutors are needed to help adults improve their basic reading, writing, math and computer skills. Prior teaching experience is not necessary.

Volunteers will become a mentor to a young child who is struggling to read. Meeting together in the library, they will read, play literacy games and have fun. The focus is to help the child develop strong literacy skills that will give them the confidence to read independently. 
 
Mentors must be a role model to their buddy, and keep the meetings interesting and engaging by thinking creatively and planning activities based on their buddy's interests and reading challenges.

Residents are ready to start their day at 9:30 am so we are looking for volunteers to bring friendship and mental stimulation to residents through 1 to 1 visits. Some activities you could do would be to visit a resident in their room or take them to the garden or other parts of the home, flip through photo albums, read to them, listen to music, read the newspaper together etc.
