Girls on the Go is looking for female volunteers for our nonprofit program.  
This program is open to girls (15+) who are living with intellectual disabilities. Each week, we come together and participate in a variety of fun activities, such as: cooking, crafts, movies, local excursions, and more.  
This ongoing position is ideal for individuals who are committed, responsible, and patient.

Objective: Provide community-based support: provide one-on-one coaching and support to clients with various technologies.  
Responsibilities & Tasks:  
• Provides one-to-one coaching and support to clients who use accessible technology like smart phones, smart home devices, video magnifiers, etc.  
• Receives training on new technology available for those with vision loss  
• Provides demonstrations of new technology to clients  
• Assembles resources to help clients further explore their device’s capabilities at home  
• Researches and creates accessible documents needed for group sessions. These documents also function as resources for other clients and future sessions

Objective: Provide community-based support to our Ambassadors and/or Advocates who are blind or partially sighted and are travelling within the GTA to outreach events and speaking engagements.  
Responsibilities & Tasks:  
•Travel with Ambassador or Advocate to and from events  
•Provide sighted guide and sighted assistance as required  
•Assist in set up/tear down of event materials as needed  
•Track and report expenses as directed

Objective: Work with advocacy team members to coordinate our Ambassador and outreach campaigns across the GTA, build relationships and help us reach people with sight loss in all areas of the region.

• Proactive relationship building with community organizations who have shared goals with CNIB's mission 
• Provide support to participants and volunteers involved in CNIB's community advocacy and outreach work 
• Assist with implementing an outreach strategy to promote CNIB programs and services across all regions of the GTA, particularly those that are currently underserved by CNIB  
• Represent CNIB by attending health fairs, expos, and other related community events 
• Monitor and coordinate outreach events and program materials to ensure that volunteers have all the relevant resources  
• Participate as a fully integrated member of the GTA Foundation team with regular travel within the GTA. 
• Assist in recruitment and onboarding of CNIB Ambassador and Advocate volunteers and track volunteer activity including capturing program statistics.

The Team Captain is responsible for recruiting and coordinating a team of volunteers to implement the phone drives and ensure the team has the information and support they require to be effective. This position acts as a liaison between CNIB, volunteers and stakeholders.  
Tasks vary on event requirements; however, this position will always include:  
• Assist with team recruitment, selection, training and recognition  
• Conduct regularly scheduled follow up (calls or emails) with volunteers; report any issues or concerns immediately to supervisor.  
• Be available to volunteer team to provide support and guidance in their role  
• Responsible for managing all the in kind and cash donations during the event.  
• Report on volunteer hours and other event measurables.  
• Provide training and on-site assistance to the Event Team Members.

Supervisor: Program Lead, Home Based Support (GTA) 
Objective: Provide community-based support: provide one-on-one sighted assistance and companionship for a person who is blind or partially sighted. 
Responsibilities & Tasks: 
• Regularly visit a client in his/her home or other suitable environment at a mutually convenient time 
• Activities are determined by client need and mutually agreed upon 
• Approved activities are: reading, organizing, walking, assisting with errands or outings, and friendly visiting 
• All outings are on foot, by public transportation or taxi 
• Notify the client in advance if you will miss a visit; notify your supervisor if you will miss more than two in a row 
• When a client needs more support, service, counseling or information then you are able to give, refer them to staff 
• Track and report volunteer hours as directed 
• Do not cook, clean, provide personal care, do home repairs, give advice, provide counseling, or do heavy lifting 
• Do not drive clients 
• Do not offer advice or recommendations on treatment, health care professionals, or any medical information
