Bingo World Newmarket (1230 Kerrisdale Blvd, Newmarket)
We are looking for reliable enthusiastic (must be 18+) volunteers to help at our weekly fundraising bingo. You would be responsible for promoting awareness of our organization to the bingo players, providing information on the gaming center and programs along with collecting before and after each game, keeping the area clean, and thanking the bingo players for supporting YBH.

Yellow Brick House invites nominations for our volunteer Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for governance, strategic planning, policy development, financial and risk management, and monitoring and evaluation. Board members bring skills, experience and thought leadership to the table. The Agency welcomes board members with profession background in one or more areas of leadership, strategic planning, financial and risk management, Human Resources, communications and marketing, stewardship and fundraising, housing, family and/or immigration law, real estate and/or property management, government relations, and knowledge of communities. 
 
Mandate of the Board: A non-profit charitable organization established in 1978, Yellow Brick House is managed by a community-based volunteer Board of Directors who plan, set policy, and ensure adequate resources are available to fulfill our mission. There are up to 12 Board members. The Board meets regularly with the Executive Director to monitor agency progress and needs, and provide strategic direction. The ED is responsible for day-to-day operations and is a resource to the Board. Board members do not engage in direct service activities with clients. 
 
Board Application Process: Interested volunteers are invited to submit a current resume and letter of interest. The Executive Director will share the information with the President of the Board and the Chair of the Governance Committee. The candidate may be invited for an interview with Executive Director and select board members. References will be requested and a Vulnerable Sector Check will be required. The current Board will review the applications and bring recommendations to the board. Board members are elected for a 3-year term. Should a vacancy arise, it may be filled through election by Board members at their regular meetings and ratified by the membership at the next annual general meeting, A New Board Member Orientation is offered to incoming Board members. 
 
Committees: Each Board Member participates in at least one committee.

We are looking for volunteers to assist with providing childcare while the mothers are in group counseling sessions. 
 
Yellow Brick House relies on the support of the community to enhance its services to abused women and their children.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of areas, your experience in one of the areas could make a difference in the lives of many.  
Volunteers provide support in a number of ways at Yellow Brick House: governance, public education/awareness, special events, the holiday program, grounds keeping, maintenance, administration, deliveries and shelter support. Volunteers are given the opportunity to use their experience in a variety of areas as well as learn new skills in a team environment.
