Volunteers are needed to assist adults who have a developmental disability to participate in fun, interactive and social nights. Volunteers will assist in creating a fun environment by supporting and encouraging participants. With staff, the volunteers will assist with set up/ clean up and implementation of the games and activities.  
 
Sessions run: April 2 - July 9, 2019; August 20 - November 26, 2019 and January 7 - March 31, 2020.

Leisure Buddy   Aurora 
Aurora. Town of, The Loft Youth Lounge
The Town of Aurora welcomes and encourages all children with exceptionalities to participate in any of our recreation programs. To facilitate that participation, the Leisure Buddy program was created! This program pairs an enthusiastic and compassionate volunteer with each child who requires additional support.  
 
Volunteers for the Leisure Buddy program can be anyone over the age of 14 with a desire to assist others. Typically the Town looks for individuals who enjoy working with children and have time to volunteer in our seasonal and camp programs.  
 
We are looking for individuals who enjoy working with children and are enthusiastic and compassionate.
Doane House Hospice
Purpose of Role: To work closely with the Executive Director and the other committee members to plan, organize and implement Hike for Hospice. 
 
Hike for Hospice raises funds for Doane House Hospice & Margaret Bahen Hospice to ensure individuals and family members living with a life-threatening illness receive hospice services at no charge. The event takes place on the first Sunday in May at Fairy Lake, Newmarket, Ontario.  
 
Responsibilities 
 
• Attend weekly/biweekly meetings 
• Solicit sponsors and prizes  
• Solicit hike participants 
• Marketing and promotion of the hike 
• Plan logistics, food  
• Setting up and taking down of event 
• Work as a team player with staff and volunteers

Women's Support Network of York Region, Sexual Abuse counselling and support
The Women's Support Network (WSN) is York Region's only sexual violence crisis centre, established in 1992. We are dedicated to providing free, non-judgmental and confidential services to anyone who has experienced any form of sexual violence at some point in their lifetime. 
 
As a Crisis Line Volunteer, you will: 
- Provide support on the crisis line using a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive approach to those who are currently experiencing or have experienced abuse and/ or sexual violence, as well as support persons or family members of survivors impacted by violence. 
- Training on: 
o Human trafficking 
o Supportive listening 
o Safety planning 
o Crisis intervention 
o Trauma neurobiology 
- Maintain confidentiality of callers 
- Access to a telephone that receives incoming calls is required 
-Minimum one year commitment

Would you like to become a mentor by volunteering to be a positive role model for a child with social and/or emotional problems? Volunteers are matched with a specific child to share weekly activities in the community and provide the child with a positive role model. An average of 3-4 hours a week is required. Male and culturally diverse volunteers are especially needed. Mileage and some expenses are reimbursed. 
 
We also recruit volunteers for group support. Mostly evening time frames, one night a week for a couple of hours.

Duties include:  
-Supervising and interacting with children between the ages of 6-15 years  
-Assisting in workshops on theory and horsemanship  
-Leading horses around  
-Aid in barn practical work, grooming and tack-up  
-Engaging and participating in the fitness aspect (volleyball, soccer, dance) arts and crafts  
 
We need reliable individuals, who are committed and love animals. The volunteer position requires strong leadership skills and initiative. Volunteers must be able to listen to instructions and deliver them to the campers in a clear and concise manner.  
 
All volunteers must take two training sessions prior to the start of camp weeks.
